Take the Time to Show your Hands Some Attention

Having clean fingernails is an important hygienic practice. If you do not have nails, you may be safe. People tend to notice your hands more often than you think. Having dirty fingernails makes you look unprofessional, untidy and makes others wonder about other aspects of your life. Be thorough when cleaning your hands. Also ensure that your hands are well moisturized to avoid roughness and cracks. Use a sharp tool to clean underneath your fingernails without cutting yourself. After cleaning underneath, wash your hands thoroughly and apply cream.

Soccer and Fitness
Fitness is not an option!

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world. It requires skill, technique, mental toughness and talent for one to succeed. Whether you are a beginner, amateur or professional player, soccer requires a wide range of specific fitness elements for a player to be successful. The specific types of fitness will depend on the position the player plays. For example: a central midfield player would need great stamina, decent speed and good mobility. On the other hand a striker may need to be quick, possess decent mobility, and could sacrifice on his/her endurance.

The running involved in soccer is not a leisurely jog but involves frequent sprints that require acceleration, deceleration and change in direction. The objective of fitness is to allow players to cope with the physical demands of the game while allowing each player to harness and improve their technical and tactical abilities. At all levels, fitness will improve both effectiveness and enjoyment in one’s play.

The importance of fitness cannot be stressed enough. Not only is it important for endurance but it plays an integral role in the prevention of injuries. Injuries happen at all levels of soccer. However, with a proper fitness regime certain measures can be taken to keep the frequency of such injuries to a minimum.

Here are a few helpful strategies that can greatly reduce the likelihood that injury will occur.

  • Engage in training that targets soccer-specific muscle groups: The legs, lower back, abdominals and hips. Remember to incorporate a combination of cardio and strength training, which will improve speed, power, and endurance levels.
  • Proper stretching habits both before and after a game or practice increase flexibility and muscle capacity. Brief, static stretching gets the blood moving and prepares muscles to make quick, sudden movements. Making this a habit will greatly reduce the risk of injury to muscles and joints.
  • After all is said and done to compete at a competitive level one must be in good physical shape, be willing to work hard and most of all be dedicated to the game!

Avoid Shopping for Entertainment /Excitement

Admit it… Going to the stores when we are sad or bored can result in buying more stuff that you really do not need. Divert that unspent energy into something more positive and self-indulgent such as taking a long bath, browsing the library for a good book or movie, exercising, or inviting a friend over for a meal and good conversation. If you find you have a lot of time on your hands try volunteering for something that interest you.

Last Minute Tax Tips
The deadline to file your taxes is April 15, 2013, and though it may seem far away, I would never recommend procrastination. Procrastinating on your tax return will result in you rushing the whole process. Most likely if you wait until the last minute and try to speed through it, there is a likelihood that you will not get the full amount that you deserve. My advice to you is to take the time to get it done properly. The good news is just by reading this blog, you are already off to a good start. So let us start by taking the time to ask ourselves some questions.

What documents do I need?

Some of the most common documents needed are:

  • W-2s
  • Social Security statement (1099-SSA)
  • Dividend and interest statements (1099-DIV and 1099-INT)
  • Brokerage statements (1099-B), along with statements showing when you bought and sold your investments
  • Health care expenses (doctors, dentists, health insurance, eye care, medicine)
  • Motor vehicle registration
  • Mortgage interest paid (1098)
  • Gifts to charity
  • Job-related expenses (union dues, job education, uniforms)

Keep in mind that not all individuals will carry the same documents, the situation of the individual depicts what he or she must have. Because there are many different situations, H&R block has created an impressive interactive web tool that creates a checklist for you. The software creates your checklist by asking simple questions about yourself. This is very convenient for last minute tax filers. The web link is http://www.hrblock.com/taxes/tax_tips/tax_planning/tax_checklist.html.

What do I qualify for?

Individuals qualify for tax deductions and certain tax credits provided by the United States Government. Both are different and many people confuse the two. A Tax Deduction is an expense that is subtracted from the adjusted gross income (AGI), in order to reduce the amount of income subject to tax. A Tax Credit is used as an offset against a tax liability. Do not take your friend’s word for what you may qualify for. The best place to look for this is on www.IRS.gov. The website gives a lot of information on the different types of Deductions and Credits available to you.

How do I file my tax return?

There are normally two ways to file a tax return, electronic and by mail. The IRS website provides a list of institutions that will assist you in filing your taxes. If you meet certain requirements, you can also get it done for free through their e-file software or even through The Vita program. To use the free service you must navigate from the IRS website, if you go straight to the Tax software on the internet there is a possibility that you will be charged when you should not have to pay. Visit http://apps.irs.gov/app/freeFile/jsp/index.jsp?ck and choose a company to file with.

I hope you receive you maximum return and remember to be wise with it.
